Senior Historian Jason Gart Appointed History Associates’ New Deputy Director of Litigation Research
History Associates is pleased to announce that Senior Historian Jason H. Gart, Ph.D., has been named Deputy Director of Litigation Research. Dr. Gart has been with History Associates since 2007 and has successfully directed an array of research and analytical projects, including many in support of litigation clients. In his new role, Dr. Gart will be working closely with Litigation Research Director Mike Reis and other team members to provide corporate and governmental clients and their counsel with historical research and analysis for legal issues, regulatory compliance, and public relations.
“Jason brings research creativity and strong business acumen to historical investigations, giving him insight and ability to implement client work plans that efficiently meet the objectives of the case,” said Mr. Reis. “I’m excited to see him expand his portfolio in serving more litigation clients.”
Dr. Gart has experience in several high-profile litigation research efforts, including investigating World War II and Cold War mobilization and procurement; airframe and aerospace manufacturing; and the historic relationship between the federal government and defense contractors. He has provided expert witness testimony on a cultural resource management issue and has served as project manager on multi-year research efforts identifying potentially responsible parties (PRPs).
Dr. Gart has served on the executive council of the Society for History in the Federal Government and has presented papers at the annual meetings of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations, National Council on Public History, and the Organization of American Historians. He recently spoke at the Environmental Protection Agency’s 9th National Training Conference on PRP Search Enhancement, presenting “The Historian as Detective: The PRP Search.”
Prior to joining History Associates, Dr. Gart served as co-founder and managing director of Ask a Historian.com, Inc., an Internet company. He holds a B.S. in history and politics from Drexel University, and received his M.A. in public history and his Ph.D. in modern United States and Western history from Arizona State University. Dr. Gart’s dissertation examined the history of the electronics and aerospace industries in Arizona.
