History Associates Promotes Carlyn Swaim, Halley Fehner to New Roles
History Associates announces the promotion of two long-time employees at the company. Carlyn Swaim has been named Director of Exhibits and Interpretative Planning services, and Halley Fehner has been appointed to a new role as Content Director. Both appointments are effective immediately.

We look forward to them expanding these relationships and strengthening our reputation as a leader in developing client stories for diverse audiences.”
Ms. Swaim has been with History Associates for the past nine years and most recently served as co- program coordinator for the company’s exhibits and interpretive planning services. In her new role, she is responsible for the daily management of the service line, business development activities, and serves as the main point of contact for new project inquiries. She will expand on her ability to lead teams of historians working on an array of projects for corporations, museums, and non-profits.
During her career at History Associates, Ms. Swaim has conducted exhibit projects for numerous organizations including the U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command; the American Battle Monuments Commission; the National World War II Museum; the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum; and the Trust for the National Mall. She has experience in master planning, museum content development, digital history, mobile apps, image research and acquisition. Ms. Swaim holds an MA in history from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned her bachelor’s degree in history from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
As Content Director, Ms. Fehner has direct responsibility for the quality delivery of the company’s exhibits and interpretative planning services. She oversees and mentors the staff, and maintains quality control over project deliverables.
Ms. Fehner has been with History Associates since 2008 and most recently served as program coordinator of exhibit and interpretive planning services along with Ms. Swaim. Ms. Fehner has developed interpretive plans for historic areas and sites, drafted exhibit text for museums, created content for mobile apps, and conducted a wide variety of content and image research. Ms. Fehner is a Certified Interpretive Planner by the National Association for Interpretation. She graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a BA in history and English.
