2007: Creating Powerful Exhibits

Historians researched and recorded stories of the lives and sacrifices of the soldiers buried at the Normandy American Cemetery.

Historians researched and recorded stories of the lives and sacrifices of the soldiers buried at the Normandy American Cemetery.

Historians collaborate with architects and exhibit designers to create powerful displays for the American Battle Monuments Commission’s (ABMC) Normandy American Cemetery Visitor Center.  As one ABMC official put it, despite its emotional impact, the cemetery always lacked “a story to go with the names written on the headstones.”  History Associates brings that story to life, helping the one million visitors who travel to the World War II cemetery each year understand what lay behind the courage and sacrifice of those who perished during the Allied D-Day landings.  In the years to come, the company’s historians continue to expand their exhibit capabilities and expertise, developing content for six additional ABMC sites that commemorate sacrifice during World War I and World War II.
