1998: Supporting Corporate Disclosure
Ford Motor Company brings History Associates into a global effort to document and disclose Ford’s connections to forced labor during World War II. A team of researchers coordinates an immense, international review of records related to Ford’s operations in Nazi-era Germany. Historians search Ford company files in the United States and Germany, government records at the U.S. National Archives, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the British National Archives and the Imperial War Museum, and even federal and regional archives in Germany. The team ultimately gathers and analyzes nearly 100,000 pages of documents. The three-year effort culminates in Ford’s 2001 release of a detailed report of the findings.
