Experienced Archivist – Project Manager

History Associates (HAI) is excited to announce an opening for a temporary archivist project manager to join a dynamic team to work on processing a collection of a former elected government official.  If you meet the qualifications below and commit to a one year project, this is the position for you.

Position is full-time temporary, located in DC, MD area.

Job Responsibilities

The project manager will be responsible for overseeing a large team of experienced archivists processing a collection of an elected government official.  The project manager will assist the team with inventorying client memorabilia, packing records and memorabilia and running quality control for internal consistency and accuracy.  The project manager will work closely with the lead archivist ensuring specific goals and budget requirements are met. Attention to detail is a must. The position will involve both working independently and as a team member with History Associates and client staff.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, History, or other applicable field

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience successfully managing high-profile projects internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on archives processing projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing and mitigating potential project risks

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of archival policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with congressional records
