Kelly Lathrop, C.A.
Kelly works on a variety of archives projects for History Associates, including collection assessments, client engagement and education sessions, consultation on proper care, documentation, and use of historical materials, and processing collections for various government and private organizations. Kelly also provides consulting services for archival support, including the development of policies and procedures for administrative oversight of collections. She brings expertise in archives best practice, leveraging historic documents and artifacts to tell compelling stories, and working in interdisciplinary teams with a range of clients.
Kelly recently completed an assessment and survey of a collection of women religious, culminating in a formal project plan to process and transfer the collection to an academic repository. She has also recently completed several large-scale storage assessments, evaluating current storage methods, environment, and space utilization, to provide recommendations for maximizing storage space and protecting collections during planned renovations or transfer.
Before joining History Associates, Kelly completed a graduate assistantship at the University of Maryland, College Park, and internships with the Central New York Library Resource Council, the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. She earned her MLS with a specialization in Archives, Records, and Information Management from University of Maryland, College Park, in 2015. She also holds a BFA in art photography from Syracuse University. Kelly is certified by the Academy of Certified Archivists.
