Research Historian

Work at HAI

Matt joined HAI in January 2022. As a research historian, he conducts in-depth historical and litigation research and supports content development efforts for a variety of corporate, legal, museum, and government clients.

Path to HAI

Before joining HAI, Matt was a teacher both in the classroom and outdoors. As an undergraduate, he led experiential education trips across Missouri’s wild spaces and developed a local environmental history curriculum including a documentary film recounting the ecological impacts of dam breakage at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. Matt then returned to his high school alma mater in Albuquerque, New Mexico to work as a 10th grade history teacher, operational assistant, and special project coordinator.

Matt graduated in 2020 from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in History and Japanese Language and Culture Studies.  His honors capstone reinterpreted American propaganda campaigns in Vietnam during the early 1960’s and his research interests continue to explore the intersection between media and governance.
