Work at HAI
As an archivist at HAI, Laura preserves and provides access to collections through arrangement and description alongside the Archives & Information Management team. She collaborates with other archivists and collections managers on a variety of projects for HAI clients.
Path to HAI
Prior to HAI, Laura worked in archives, special collections, and libraries at universities and other cultural heritage institutions. Her experience includes positions at the University of Baltimore Special Collections & Archives, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, Indiana University, Bloomington, and the West Virginia & Regional History Center at West Virginia University.
For Laura, archives are about storytelling and information access. In her work at HAI, she aims to help clients share their stories today and preserve them long-term through their collections. Laura brings her dedication to preservation and access, her eye for detail, and her collaborative nature to each of her projects. In addition to her collections work, Laura has a background in writing and experience with digital exhibits, digital preservation, and social media outreach.
Laura earned her MLS with a specialization in Archives and Records Management from Indiana University, Bloomington and her B.A. in English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She also holds a graduate certificate in User Experience (UX) Design from The University of Baltimore. She is certified by the Academy of Certified Archivists. Laura is also active in the archives community as a member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC).
