Work at HAI

Darcie joined HAI in August 2022. Her first assignment was with Niagara Falls Library where she, as part of a team of four archivists, conducted an inventory of various materials, three-dimensional objects, books, and periodicals of the Local History collection. She rearranged and rehoused over 200 linear feet of paper photographic prints, interpositive/duplicate negatives, photo negatives, and slides, oversized photographic, reference, and audiovisual materials for San Juan - National Park Service. She’s currently embedded with National Geographic Society.

Path to HAI

Prior to joining HAI, Darcie was a costume and textile specialist and exhibition preparator contractor for the National Museum of American History and the African American Museum of History and Culture of 10 years. She also worked as a contractor with the Textile Museum of George Washington University. She received her master’s degree from George Mason University in Early American History and Public History. During her time with the Smithsonian, Darcie worked with the First Ladies Collection and various important historical, pop cultural, and national treasures.  

Darcie received her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in Theatre, Costume history and technology. She worked as a costumer and craftsperson for 10 years in the theatre, with the last 3 years on Broadway.
