Rachel Ban
Senior archivist/records manager Rachel Ban, C.A., works on a variety of archives and records management projects for History Associates. She currently writes records retention schedules, conducts records surveys, completes program assessments, and oversees processing and inventory projects. She has experience with XMetal, EAD encoding, website design, collection management systems including Cuadra STAR/Archives and Re:discovery ANCS+, and regularly designs and adapts MS Access databases. Ms. Ban also serves as deputy director of Information Resources Management Services and as manager of History Associates' archival storage facility.
In 2007 Ms. Ban earned the National Archives and Records Administration certificate of Federal Records Management Training by completing the five-course Federal Records Management Training Program. This training supplements her extensive experience working with federal records.
An active member of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), Ms. Ban has chaired meeting sessions, served on several meeting program committees, and given session presentations. She is a certified archivist through the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) since 2003, is a member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), and has served as a grant reviewer for the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC).
Ms. Ban earned her bachelor's degree in history from Wheaton College in Illinois and holds a master's in history and a master's in library science with an archival concentration from the University of Maryland at College Park.
