History Associates Incorporated Writes of Lasting Legacy of One of America's Greatest Inventors

History Associates Incorporated (HAI) has completed a lavishly illustrated history of Navistar, the descendent of the company founded by the inventor of the first practical mechanical reaper, Cyrus McCormick. This extensively researched book tracks the development of International Harvester, McCormick, and Navistar in the context of the development of the nation. It roots the origin of the company in the blossoming of invention and innovation encouraged by the nation's founding and follows its trajectory of growth through the decades of the United States' own growth and expansion. It highlights Navistar's place in American history, Chicago history, and business history with its innovations in marketing, public relations, installment sales, and dealership franchises and follows it into the business world of today where it remains on the cutting edge of transportation equipment. The book is enhanced by hundreds of photos and illustrations, as well as illustrated timelines.

HAI historian Lee Sullivan wrote and researched the book, conducting more than a dozen oral histories. Her research efforts were greatly aided by HAI historian Jessica Smith; Ken Durr assisted with both the writing and the editing of this book. International Harvester, McCormick, Navistar: Milestones in the Company that Helped Build America was produced by Graphic Arts Center Publishing Company in 2007.
