Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HAI Historian Speaks at the Harry S. Truman Legacy Symposium Mike Reis, Litigation Research Division director at HAI, presented at the Truman Era Legacy Symposium on June 9th in Key West, Florida, near Truman's "Little White House." This year's symposium, entitled "From Los Alamos to the Everglades," focused on environmental policy of the Truman presidency and era. In his presentation, Mr. Reis addressed "pre-EPA" congressional and executive agency records available at the National Archives and how these documents can foster greater understanding of the history and origins of federal environmental policy. Mr. Reis also touched on often overlooked records of the judiciary, which also played a central role in deciding key environmental lawsuits in the years prior to the growth of the environmental movement. Mr. Reis's speech will be published by the Truman Library as part of
its symposium series.
