HAI Archivists and Historian Recognized by C. Everett Koop

Dr. C. Everett Koop presented an appreciation medal bearing his name to History Associates Incorporated (HAI) archivists Gregory Pike and Meghan Attalla, along with historian K. Walter Hickel. The award recognizes the hard work they put into digitizing the former U.S. Surgeon General's papers and placing them on the National Library of Medicine's "Profiles in Science" website. Dr. Koop described the on-line collection, which went public in February 2005, as part of his "legacy."

Ms. Attalla earned her BA in history and MLIS from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Pike holds a BA from Juniata College and MLIS from the University of Maryland at College Park. He also earned his JD from Widener University. Dr. Hickel began his studies at the Free University of Berlin. He also received an MA in history from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.
