Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Historian Nancy K. Berlage Honored with 2002 Vernon Carstensen Award Dr. Nancy K. Berlage of History Associates Incorporated (HAI) in Rockville, Maryland, has won the 2002 Vernon Carstensen Award from the Agricultural History Society for her article "Organizing the Farm Bureau: Family, Community, and Professionals, 1914-1928." The Society judged the article as the best work published in the journal Agricultural History in 2001. Appearing in the Fall issue, the article reveals how members of the Farm Bureau turned to new scientific techniques and social strategies to help save the family farm. Dr. Berlage received the award on April 13 at the Presidential Luncheon of the Agricultural History Society held in Washington, DC, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians. Dr. Berlage's current work with History Associates is a project for the National Institutes of Health in which she is preparing book-length histories of several of its organizations and leading scientists. She also played a key role in the editing and revision of NINDS at 50, a history of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
