The new division joins HAI's History, Litigation Research, and Information Resources Management divisions in offering a wide range of history-related services to private, public, and non-profit organizations. The International Division builds upon HAI's
increased historical research activity for American and European
companies resulting from international concern over Nazi-era stolen
assets and forced labor issues. The new division currently has
several projects involving research in Germany, France, and Great
Britain, and plans to extend into other countries over the next
two years. Dr. James H. Lide, the division's director, currently
oversees HAI's research projects relating to World War II-era claims
arising from looted art, forced labor practices in Germany, and
the activities at American subsidiaries throughout occupied Europe.
Division staff include native and fluent speakers of German, French,
Italian, and Spanish, with extensive research experience in overseas
archives.
