Processing Archivists - Landover MD
PART-TIME ACCOUNTANT/BOOKKEEPER
History Associates Incorporated, an established and innovative historical and information services firm, seeks hands on, detail-oriented accountant for our finance department.
Primary responsibilities:

Assist with payroll administration, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

Primary back-up to the Director of Finance
Qualifications:
-
5 years bookkeeping experience
-
Meticulous, accurate, and able to meet strict deadlines

Experience with accounting system software and efficiency in Excel and Word required
-
Excellent communication skills, as individual will interact with senior management and other staff members
Position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri). Work schedule is defined by payroll, taxes and invoicing deadlines. Longer hours may be required during initial two months for training.

SENIOR RECORDS MANAGER
History Associates is seeking an experienced Records Manager to enhance its records management consulting services. This line of business focuses on advising clients on the policies and processes involved in developing and implementing effective records management programs, providing hands-on support through phases of the records management life-cycle, providing records management training for client staff, and selecting and implementing electronic records management systems.
Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Vice President for Information Resources Management (IRM), the Senior Records Manager will lead the company's efforts to identify, win, staff, and perform records management engagements. Although initially the job will focus on managing existing records management projects, the Senior Records Manager will have primary responsibility for expanding our records management service line with support from the VP for IRM and the Marketing Director.
As appropriate, the Senior Records Manager will pursue partnerships and subcontracting opportunities with other firms specializing in various aspects of paper and digital records management.
The Senior Records Manager will also be responsible for furthering the firm's collective knowledge of records management issues through professional development and training activities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

A combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates a mastery of records management principals and practices

Project management experience including client relations, budget and schedule management, staff supervision, and quality assurance

A working knowledge of electronic records management systems
-
Broad familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in records management, and the ability to convey and apply that knowledge in a consulting capacity

An understanding of the integral connections between records management and archives management
-
Experience conducting records management training
-
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
The ideal candidate should possess relevant education and training

BA or Master's degree in information management or a related discipline

Certified Records Manager preferred

Minimum 5 years experience working as a records manager

Training and experience with one or more of the major ERMS products and the MS Office Suite

SURVEY ARCHIVIST
History Associates has an immediate need for experienced Survey Archivists to serve as part of an extensive team to survey archival collections located throughout the National Park system, prepare processing plans for these materials, and assist in managing each plan's implementation.
Significant travel throughout the United States may be required.
Job Responsibilities
Working with and reporting to the Senior Project Archivist, the Survey Archivist will conduct collection surveys, prepare processing plans, and assist project archivists in the implementation of the plans.

PROCESSING ARCHIVISTS - LANDOVER MD
History Associates has an immediate need for three experienced Processing Archivists to join our extensive and growing National Park Service team. Work will be performed at an off-site facility in Landover, Maryland. Monthly travel to our main office in Rockville, Maryland may be required. Anticipated start date is mid-February to early-March 2012.
Job Responsibilities
The Processing Archivists will implement a previously developed processing plan for a 380 linear foot collection of personal and corporate records.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in library science, history, or related discipline with a concentration in archival studies or archival courses, seminars, internships, or practica.
