ARCHIVIST/RECORDS MANAGER 

History Associates Incorporated has an immediate opening in its Rockville office for an experienced archivist/records manager who enjoys varied, interesting, and challenging work. 

History Associates, an archival, records management, and historical services firm located in Rockville, Maryland, operates nationwide. Clients include corporations, associations, nonprofit organizations, and federal, state, and local governments. Our archivists/records managers perform a wide range of archival and records management activities with professional support and guidance from senior staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts records surveys and inventories for archives assessment and records management projects
  • Undertakes records analysis and writes and implements records schedules and file classification plans
  • Performs archival processing activities, including the arrangement, cataloging/description, and preservation of records
  • Plans and implements archives operations
  • Prepares written and oral presentations and reports
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to clients
  • Performs related administrative duties

 Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in library science or related discipline with degree concentration in archival studies
  • Experience appraising, arranging, and describing archival records
  • Broad experience in records management activities that may include records scheduling, file classification plans, electronic records, imaging/digitization, and records center operations
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, research, and interpret records and submit written descriptions of record groups and collections
  • Demonstrated, practical knowledge of archival policies and procedures
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment
  • Familiarity with major word processing and database software packages, especially MS Access
