HAI Historian Authors First Book

History Associates Incorporated (HAI) of Rockville, Maryland, is pleased to announce the publication of Images of America: Baltimore in World War II by William M. Armstrong, a historian at HAI. The 127-page book is part of Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series that documents, through carefully described historical photographs, distinctive stories that have shaped neighborhoods, towns, and cities across the country.

Mr. Armstrong's selection of photographs and his informed captioning present the human side of Baltimore's contributions to the war effort. From women pioneering as welders in the construction of Liberty ships to streetcar operators, steelworkers, and front-line military fighters, Baltimoreans worked together in a common cause "to achieve ultimate victory."

Mr. Armstrong conducts historical and litigation research at HAI. He graduated summa cum laude from Towson University in 2002 with a BS in history and political science, and he was awarded Departmental Honors in History for his thesis on the Martin B-26 medium bomber. Mr. Armstrong's areas of specialty include twentieth-century military history and US foreign policy.
