History Associates Historians Participate in the Annual Meeting of the National Council on Public History

History Associates cofounder and chairman of the board Philip L. Cantelon and senior historian Steve Swisdak participated in the April 2009 annual meeting of the National Council on Public History (NCPH) in Providence, Rhode Island. 

Dr. Cantelon, a founding member of NCPH and the organization’s first executive director, joined two other NCPH founding members, G. Wesley Johnson and Arnita Jones, in a panel discussion commemorating NCPH’s 30^th anniversary titled “Founding NCPH, Looking to the Future.” Mr. Swisdak participated in a panel discussion titled “Launching and Sustaining a Successful Consulting Practice,” which brought together five professional historical consultants to discuss their consulting practices and clientele. Founded in 1979, NCPH is the leading professional organization for public history practitioners.
