Laura Starr
Archivist Laura Starr is currently working on a variety of projects with History Associates involving processing, arrangement, description, and conservation of collections. Her work includes cataloging photograph collections at Harpers Ferry and rehousing historic maps at the Library of Congress.
Prior to joining History Associates, Ms. Starr worked as a research assistant with the Papers of Abraham Lincoln, a digital documentary editing project. She also has experience processing collections, writing finding aids, digitizing documents, and offering reference assistance in Special Collections at the University of Maryland, College Park. Ms. Starr has worked with digitizing and conserving paper and photograph records as a digital library technician with the National Register of Historic Places. She also completed internships at the Maryland State Archives at the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation, and on board the S.S. John W. Brown.
Ms. Starr earned her M.L.S. with a concentration in archives, records, and information management and her M.A. in history from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2009. She holds a B.A. in history with a concentration in museum studies from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
