Kathleen Brown
Archivist Kathleen Brown is currently working for History Associates on a project for the National Park Service, having recently completed processing the papers of a prominent artist for the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Prior to joining History Associates, Ms. Brown worked as a project archivist at the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art, arranging and describing collections included in the Terra Foundation for American Art Digitization Project, an endeavor to digitize the repository's top one hundred collections. She has also worked as a contract archivist for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, a library and archives assistant at the Phillips Collection, Washington, DC, and a student intern in the Office of Regional Records at the National Archives and Records Administration.
Ms. Brown also has significant academic and institutional experience as an art historian. Upon completing graduate coursework in modern and contemporary Latin American Art at the University of Texas in Austin, she was awarded a two-year curatorial internship in the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She later worked as a research assistant in the museum's Department of American Art for the exhibition Thomas Eakins: American Realist.
Ms. Brown earned her master's degree in library science with a concentration in archives, records, and information management from the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds a BA in art history form Boston University. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists and the Mid-Atlantic Region Archives Conference.
