Erica Haakensen, C.A.

Archivist Erica Haakensen, C.A., performs archival processing work and has assisted with conducting records and memorabilia inventories. She currently works on a variety of archival tasks for the National Library of Medicine's Digital Manuscripts Program (DMP), focusing especially on processing manuscript collections. She arranged and described the papers of Sol Spiegelman, Adrian Kantrowitz, Henry Swan, and others. Her additional DMP work includes designing and building a collection development database in Microsoft Access, transcribing handwritten and typed collection documents, scanning documents, and performing quality control work on metadata, scanned images, collection inventories, and transcripts.

Ms. Haakensen is a member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC). She became a certified archivist of the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) in 2006. Ms. Haakensen earned her bachelor's degree in English literature from Providence College in Rhode Island and her master's degree in library science with an archives management concentration from Simmons College in Massachusetts.
