Brian W. Martin Named President of History Associates Incorporated

Effective January 1, 2007, History Associates executive vice president
Brian W. Martin will become president of the company. He succeeds co-founder and long-time president Philip L. Cantelon, who will assume chairmanship of the company's Board of Directors. Dr. Cantelon replaces Wilson Krahnke, who will remain as a member of the board. These changes are the latest in the company's transition from one generation of leaders to the next, a process that HAI has been planning and implementing for several years.

Dr. Martin began with HAI in 1984 as a historian and records manager, then served as the company's Litigation Research Division director before being named executive vice president in January 2005. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Gettysburg College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa; he earned his master's degree in applied history and social science and his Ph.D. in history and policy from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Cantelon and three other historians founded History Associates Incorporated in 1981. Convinced that history could be valuable in the market as well as the marketplace of ideas, Dr. Cantelon engaged dozens of talented historians and archivists to develop this concept into a successful business.
