Daniel Lavoie

Archivist/historian Daniel Lavoie works on a variety of archives, records management, and history projects for History Associates. This work includes surveying and appraising historical materials, arranging and describing archival records, applying records retention schedules, and conducting historical research in public sector and federal government records. Mr. Lavoie has written policies and procedures for several archives in the public sector. He has experience with EAD encoding, Microsoft Access databases, Re:discovery software’s ANCS+ collection management system, and the Total Recall records management system.

Mr. Lavoie currently leads a cataloging project for the National Archives and Records Administration, which involves the accessioning of objects and the creation of catalog records using Willoughby iO collection management software.

He serves on the board of directors and as chair of the Collections Committee of Peerless Rockville Historic Preservation Ltd. A member of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), Mr. Lavoie served on the Outreach Committee from 2005 to 2007. He is also a member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), ARMA International, National Council on Public History, and National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Mr. Lavoie earned his bachelor's degree in history from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. He also holds a master's degree in history from the Archival, Museum, and Editing Studies program at Duquesne University in Pennsylvania.
