Written to commemorate Cleco’s 75th anniversary, this richly illustrated book tells the story of how a local ice company in Bunkie, Louisiana, evolved into a regional utility company with a state-of-the-art power plant. Drawing on extensive research into local records and company archives and informed by oral history interviews, the narrative takes the reader through the company’s evolution from a 1930s “ice and electricity” company through the turmoil of electric utility deregulation into the age of sustainable energy.
