Chessie Monks
Archivist Chessie Monks is currently working for History Associates on a project for the National Park Service, performing archival processing, arrangement, and description services for various collections. Prior to joining History Associates, Ms. Monks worked in the Rare Books and Manuscripts department of the Boston Public Library. She completed internships at the Emerson College Archives, where she processed theatre-related collections, as well as at the Loring-Greenough House/Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club, where she worked with a committee to establish and arrange the archival collections of the Club and historic house. Ms. Monks also held internships at the Cambridge Historical Society and the Special Collections Department of the State Library of Massachusetts.
Ms. Monks received her master's degree in library science with a concentration in archives management from Simmons College and her bachelor's degree in English literature from Northeastern University. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists.
