Carlyn Swaim

Historian Carlyn Swaim conducts history and litigation related research. She is currently performing research relating to slavery in the United States on behalf of financial institutions and is developing photographic and content research for The National Museum of Americans in Wartime. Her litigation related project experience includes researching former industrial site histories, product liability cases, and historic land-use cases.

Ms. Swaim graduated magna cum laude from St. Mary's College of Maryland with a BA in history. She previously interned with the U.S. Navy Museum at the Washington Navy Yard and studied abroad at the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Oxford, England. Her senior thesis, “In Grey Waters: Reactions to the Liberty Incident from a Cold War Perspective,” focused on the 1967 naval event from a geopolitical perspective.
