History Associates Recognized for Participation in Maryland Commuter Choice Tax Credit Program
History Associates Incorporated was spotlighted in a recent NewsChannel 8 television news report that aired on August 28, 2008. The news report, which included interviews with several History Associates employees, including president Brian W. Martin, archivist Joseph Neumann, and historian Gene Fielden, highlighted the benefits of the Maryland Commuter Choice Tax Credit.
The tax credit, one of several efforts aimed at encouraging mass transit ridership and vanpooling in Maryland, helps companies subsidize employee commuting costs. History Associates uses the tax credit to underwrite a portion of its employees' public transportation fare costs. "It's a great business/government partnership that benefits both the community and my bottom line," noted Neumann. Neumann receives about $600 a year through the program and is among a number of History Associates employees who participate. History Associates is one of only thirteen companies in the state that has applied to receive the tax credit.
